Sustainable Art Project, 2023
I like dreaming in different contexts about things I care about. I have a deep interest in theatre, and as a former playwright, I enjoy thinking about theatre in new and different concepts.Green Spot Theatre
Green Spor Theatre is a speculative concept for a sustainable theatre initiative. Built around the idea of reclaiming both public space and artistic process, this project explores how performance art can align with environmental justice, social engagement, and cultural memory.
It grew out of these questions combined:What would make it a community space? How could it commit to zero-waste production? How could it become a ritual of reuse, and reflection?
Waste materials → Set design
Daylight → Energy savings
Flexible tickets → Accessibility
Environmental Impact
- Use second-hand clothing for costumes to reduce waste and avoid new production.
- Build sets with collected plastic and paper waste to reuse materials that would otherwise go to landfill.
- Minimize energy by using daylight and solar-powered tools instead of traditional lighting.
Community Engagement
- Choose venues in public parks or historically significant spaces to connect performances with their surroundings.
- Create short, site-responsive performances that are relevant to local audiences.
- Make workshops part of the process so the community can learn and take part.
Financial Sustainability
- Collaborate with eco-conscious sponsors and public partners to support costs.
- Offer a platform for brands that care about sustainability.
- Use flexible ticket models to keep events accessible to more people.
This concept was developed as a strategic design project to explore sponsorship opportunities, financial models, and partnership strategies for a potential production for Maçka Democracy Park in Istanbul (2023). For access to the full proposal, feel free to get in touch.
